Dope overall... I would have switched out some tracks that don't really go with the album title and saved them for another project... Other than that, the sh*t bangs... Still would have wanted to hear the "VS" songs and wasn't there supposed to be a Dj Quik and EA-Ski track on this?

Yep, some tracks are big West Coast bombs, but half of the tracks are not good in my opinion (I Am The West and crunk beats!?).

I'm very disappointed... where are productions from DJ QUIK and E-A-Ski!?

I'm waitin' on Ice Cube & DJ Quik collab, the same wit E-A-Ski (Earthquake part 2).

This sampler has got me dumbstruck. I have no idea whether to love or hate it. The opening few tracks i wasn't feeling but i think they'll grow on me.tracks 7 and on (when going by the sample tracklist) are definitely where this starts to shine, though i never thought i'd hear an "i love you wifey" song (well more of an intro segment) from Cube (not that it's terrible or anything.) No Country For Young Men is probably my fav after one listen. I think my problem with this release so far is the subject matter, as Cube's delivery is fucking awesome and can't be faulted.

Anyway, i have no idea what to think and ima try to be optimistic. If my post is a little haphazard - sorry, i'm a little confused here!

[Edit] Also, didn't seem "too west coast for the west coast". Hope i'm wrong.

[Edit 2] Just gave it another listen. Don't ask me how but my bad opinion did a 180. I feel like a bit of a douche for rushing to an opinion without a second listen. Sampler is banging but i still don't feel as if it's too west coast and that wife-related song still feels out of place. Even "she couldn't make it on her own" is growing on me. Anyway, I'm happy that i straightened out my thoughts and apologise for ramblin' on when ya'll don't really give a fuck! Yay yay.
"yes this nigga is rather lethal" is a bomb-ass line hahaha

I know what you mean I was started getting a little confused when "She Couldn't Make It On Her Own" came out but I think Cube is trying to appeal to the west coast fans in general... I've noticed that since a lot of south music is played out in the west now, a lot of the youngsters from the west coast like it.. (media controls your mind) I have a feeling that Cube sons like that south influence also because they are young... That's why I was saying that Cubes sons should have had a separate project with their music, instead of being put on this album.

Anyway, I can deal with most of the songs... So, I ain't mad...

Right, I'm on my "listening session" and I Am The West snippet rollin' on my mp3 whole day rite now.
So... in my opinion Nothin' Like L.A. is one of the dopest songs Cube release in last years (and probably the best on I Am The West), it's a pure West Coast G-Funk track, wit smooth flow and you know you can't fade the funk!

Next is... Hood Robbin' - T.Mix compose da BOMB, laid back beat and Cube's lethal lyrics (back to Death Certificate dayz in this one - real talk, social).

No Country For Young Men - beat bangs on wax, Cube lyrics are dope.

Your Money Or Your Life - damn good track!

Life In California - Sir Jinx is in tha muthafuckin' house! I really want to hear WC & Jayo Felony verses!

There are some other track that I like: I Rep That West, Drink The Kool-Aid, Soul On Ice, All Day, Every Day...

So... these tracks represent the West Coast style, but there are some tracks that represent Southern style...

In my opionion: She Couldn't Make It On Her Own, Y'all Know How I Am, Fat Cat, It Is What It Is - should be kicked off the album cuz the title is I Am The West, not I Am The South...

    Peace!

I think it's just a statement but even if it is a diss it's only the truth so Jay Z can't really complain... what a sell out he was to do that track (that is, if he wasn't one before that).

i liked the whole album, maybe just 1 or 2 songs that i aint feeling but i looveee the album, cant wait to get it, and for all of you saying ohh this is southerrnnn and shytt, honestly, who gives a fuck bout the beats, thats how you know your not a true hip hop fan, look at the lyrics and when the lyrics sound southern then you can come to this site and talk shyt, this guy is 40 yearss, he isnt acting this is his life, he isnt going to say f%#^ this yeaa i get pssy every single dayy, yea he has a wife and hes gonna dedicate a song to her and he should have done it earlier, hes a human being, even cube said being gangsta isnt about shooting people and acting ghetto, its about saying what you feel, doing what you feel is right and not giving a f^$#^ if the government hates it or the police hates it. and thats the problem about todays world, they dont understand what cube means when he says "keep it gangsta", maybe most of you on this site don't even know what he meant (no offence). but yea the albums gonna be hot, and i like him more now since he became more political. and to be honest its an honour that cube is still one of the best that came out of the west coast cuz he represents that gangsta rap isnt all about shooting, crips, bloods, and all that stuff, he also represents the political side and how the government f%$#'s us up with tracks like "the nigga trap" and "why we thugs". and yea i gotta edmit cube did fall off after laugh now cry later and iam guessing its because the government and record labels and also people cant swallow the truth. styll got mad respect for cube for keepin it real and not selling out. peace
