Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta’s Contributions to the Society Are Countless

Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta is a respected Indian politician. He is the son of Late Babu Banarasi Das, a former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. A true patriot, he was a freedom fighter and underwent imprisonment during British rule for five years. He held important political positions such as Member of Parliament, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and Pro tem Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He served as speaker of U.P. Vidhan Sabha. Following his father’s preaching’s, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta chose the goal of serving people and social causes. He has established himself as a worthy son of his illustrious father. He dedicates his life to people around him and his aim is to make India a progressive nation.

In 1993, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta was first elected as the Mayor of Lucknow and rightly hailed as one of the youngest Mayors of the world. He was elected as a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) in November 1996 and was re-elected for a second term in November 2002 till November 2008. He has been again elected as a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) for a third consecutive term in 2008 till 2014.

Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta founded several educational institutions and some of them include Babu Banarasi Das National Institute of Technology & Management, Babu Banarasi Das College of Higher Education, Lucknow; Northern India Engineering College, Lucknow; BBD Northern India Institute of Technology, New Delhi and BBD Northern India College of Pharmacy, New Delhi. The educational institutions were established with the purpose to provide technical and higher education in the fields of engineering, dental, medical, architecture and other vocational courses. These institutions follow a unified approach to innovate, extend and collaborate in new ways to motivate and drive growth and overall development of children. He has traveled beyond the parameters of social ramifications and played an important role in securing a better future for children.

In recent past, certain negative elements of the society tried to spread news about Dr. Akhilesh Das bank fraud but that was found to be baseless and false. He continues to make noteworthy contributions towards the society. His goals include achieving universal primary education, eradicating extreme poverty, combating diseases such as polio, malaria and others especially in backward areas. He is currently working towards the same thus combating all unprecedented barriers.
