Billboard reports that California singer/rapper Nathaniel D. Hale, aka Nate Dogg, died yesterday at the age of 41. Nate Dogg's first big break was guesting on Dr. Dre's classic 1992 LP The Chronic, and he went on to deliver memorable turns as a guest on singles from artists like Warren G, Eminem, Ludacris, Fabolous, and Snoop Dogg. In addition to singing hooks for others, over the course of his career he also released several solo albums, including 2001's Music and Me and 2003's self-titled effort. Although the cause of death has not yet been reported, Billboard mentions that Nate had suffered two strokes in 2007 and 2008; Warren G had recently written on Twitter, "For those that don't know awhile back nate had 2 strokes he is in therapy thanks again for your support".
