KOHLES With two victories in two tries since turning professional, there's been nobody hotter in all of golf. In his eight rounds on the Web.com Tour he is 36 under. All he did on Sunday to win again was fire a 62. And to think, the 22-year-old still lives at home in Cary, N.C.
VAN DER WALT All the South African did on Sunday was shot 60 to race up the leaderboard to finish second to Kohles. He started the day in a tie for 34th, but now he's has his best finish of the season. He's played in seven tournaments this season on the Web.com Tour and has made six cuts but only has one top-10 finish.
LABELLE He has one win this season already, and he also won Price Cutter Charity Championship in 2006. He won the Utah Championship in July, and since then, has a tie for 14th and a tie for 39th. Heading into this week's tournament, LaBelle is a comfortable 16th on the money list.
FRIESEN The defending champion is back in this year's field after dominating last year's event. He opened the tournament with a 62 and never looked back, as he won by five shots. He's struggled this season with one top 25 finish in 15 tournaments. He missed the cut last week playing in his home state at the Cox Classic.
HERMAN The Web.com Tour veteran, who played on the PGA TOUR last season, tied for third on Sunday with a final-round 64. He is ranked 13th on the money list heading into this week's tournament. He's been steady with the driver averaging 308.5 yards (11th best on tour) and is hitting plenty of greens in regulation (12th on tour).
The PGA TOUR and Web.com (Nasdaq:WWWW), the leading provider of internet services and online marketing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), today announced a 10-year agreement whereby the company becomes the umbrella sponsor of the newly named Web.com Tour.
Formerly known as the Nationwide Tour, the Web.com Tour will continue to identify and transition players who are ready to compete and win on the PGA TOUR. It currently awards PGA TOUR membership to the 25 leading money winners at the end of the season. Beginning in 2013, however, the importance of the Web.com Tour will further increase when the new qualifying structure for the PGA TOUR expands that number to 50.
The Web.com umbrella sponsorship takes effect immediately with this weeks United Leasing Championship at Victoria National Golf Club near Evansville, Ind., and extends through 2021. In addition to the umbrella sponsorship, Web.com will also become an Official Marketing Partner of the PGA TOUR, Web.com Tour and Champions Tour.
The announcements were made jointly by PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem; David L. Brown, Web.coms Chairman, President and CEO; and Bill Calfee, President of the Web.com Tour.
