Say what you will about what we now can't avoid calling The Expendables franchise, but they sure know how to market to their strengths. ( Watch The Expendables 2 Online | Watch The Expendables 2 Online )The first movie was a medicore action movie that got attention for its crammed all-star cast, and now there's a sequel coming with even more old-school stars-- and you'd better believe Lionsgate is going to make sure you get a look at every single one of them. The stars of the movie have lined up for all of the posters we've seen so far, from this confrontational-looking banner to this fiery one. But the actors have aligned again for a different poster, this one a limited edition that will be handed out only at Comic Con later this week. The plot is relatively simple, as Gotham endures Bane's hostile takeover while Batman-- and, working separately, the intrepid John Blake-- tries to figure out how to fix it. But as ever with Nolan's Batman movies, which he co-writes with Jonathan Nolan, there are so many damned details to get through to even understand what's at stake, and who's threatening it. Bane's goals are maddeningly unclear for a long section of the movie, as is Batman's motivation to jump back into action, and while the fight scenes between them are electric, neither character feels like the true heart of the movie. That role falls to Gordon-Levitt, who humps around Gotham doing the kind of detective work Batman might do in a smaller story, setting himself up as the clear-eyed hero in a more complex world. He's the best thing in the movie, sneaking just ahead of Hathaway's slinky and witty Catwoman, and at times it seems even Nolan would rather spend time with John Blake than with the Bat. ( Watch Step up Revolution online ) While Sean and Emily fall in love and dance together toward their own goals, they also have to fight off the evil gentrification her father has planned for the Cuban neighborhood The Mob calls home. Rather than talking to him, Emily decides their performance art should become protest art that shows her father in the most confounding way possible that the neighborhood is not for sale. ( Watch Ted Online | Watch Ted Online ) neric as the story may seem �a young boy named John wishes that his teddy bear will come alive and the wish comes true � MacFarlane, who co-wrote the script with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, actually takes it to some interesting places. As an adult, John (played by Mark Wahlberg) is a pothead slacker who seems like a ton of fun to hang out with, particularly when he is with his fluffy friend (voiced by MacFarlane), but the movie also works to make us understand that his particular brand of lifestyle isn�t exactly healthy or mature. John�s girlfriend of four years, Lori (Mila Kunis), spends a good amount of time on screen urging her beau to spend less time with Ted and try to get his life sorted, but instead of being the typical villainous bitch, the audience is given permission to see and understand her argument. It would be too much to say that Ted was made to undercut tropes of similar bromance/romance films, but the way MacFarlane navigates around them is fascinating.
