Escapizm
What' up Fam, this is the voice of Cube
As you know, the Super Bowl went my way. Congrats to New Orleans and the Saints. But we don't have a team in L.A. and the Raiders aren't in it, so my happiness wore off pretty quick. Went to see the Lakers beat the Spurs last week without Kobe. I also heard he wasn't playing in the All-Star game...Is it worth watching now? Maybe. Depends on what I'm doing Sunday. Taking my wife away for the weekend. This week coming up is a busy one for ya' boy. 2 movie premieres, son's basketball game and my daughter's sweet 16 party. I got DJ Crazy Toones on the wheels of steel for her. She wants a 80's theme party. Right up our alley. The Golden Age of Hip-Hop, Prince, MJ & Vanity 6. Time to school the new school.
Speaking of MJ, MC Kalmron asked me how did I feel about Michael Jackson's death. I was in NY when I saw it come across the ticker; that he was rushed to the hospital. I was concerned but thought Mike needs to just take it easy. But when I heard he died, I kinda went numb. In shock. It was like a piece of my childhood died. As the facts came out, I was pissed off at his doctor for letting him pass away right under his nose. Didn't he know he was dealing with a man that was precious to this world? Dumb fuck! Then after a few days went by, I started realizing that Dr. Conrad Murray didn't kill Michael Jackson...we did. With all the jokes and stories, the laughing and pointing. Our criticism was the reason Mike was getting high on all that shit. He wanted our love and acceptance. We loved the music he produced but threw the man away. That's wack...
I'm just now trying to embrace the internet as a way to connect directly to my fam. Any ideas you have to make this site better is welcomed by me and my staff. We want to give you first dibs on everything new with me and my career. Make you a part of it. The worldwide Westside must come together to preserve the music we love. Gangsta Rap aka Street Knowledge has been under attack since the late 80's. In 1993, our major hip-hop outlets (MTV & BET) decided not to play hip-hop with a message anymore but to broadcast "escapizm." Hip-hop with no clear message. Just drinking, smoking, fucking and partying...and now we're stuck right here.
I was also asked by ya'll about my old group, DA LENCHMOB. We see each other from time to time at different events. The music business is not what it's cracked up to be, and if you don't have true love for it...you will quickly grow sour. I think the politics and pressures of the business was too much for everybody to stay together. Far as I know, I'm the only one still in the business. We all grew up and grew apart but there's no love lost. J-Dee writes me all the time. I was also asked about Hutch and ATL. When I first left N.W.A., Hutch took it real personal. But we got nothing but respect for each other today. We laugh about it when we see each other. Mack-10? He was way out of line a few years ago (family business). I don't fuck with dude no more. After 20 years in the game, nothing surprises me. Day by day the game gets dumber. I just focus on my fans nowadays. At the end of the day, that's all an artist has. His work and the people who appreciate it.
Answering more questions. Why don't I do more gangsta movies and dramas? I'm a victim of my own success. My comedies make money and that's what Hollywood comes at me with. Those are the movies I seem to get made before my dramatic scripts. I have them. I'd rather do dramas.
My old CD's on Priority Records? Buy them. Yes, I still get paid from those old records.
ESPN "Straight Outta L.A." doc.? Air date is sometimes in May. No NWA doc. on the schedule.
NWA movie? Trying to put it together with Tameka Wright's company. Trying to get a script together.
Shots out to: Slovakia & Boston...
Keep It Gangsta,
Cube

As sad as it is that ur married. I saw some pictures of her and shes beautiful. I'm sure she has the "fuck the gov't" attitude just like you. How lucky is she...its not even the fame, nor the money. She is lucky bcuz.. If O'Shea is anything he seems in movies, and interviews.... She has a hell of a man. My man is 37, few years shy of you....And the mentality... the stature....Its riveting. What I mean is...My man is a REAL MAN, REAL FATHER, REAL LOVER.... N I get the same Vibe from ICE CUBE. Its not about being gangsta or seeming tough. Its about knowledge, its about strength and patience. Its about Alot of things. I love my black men. Hope your marriage is going good. God Bless your family. I am hoping that you wil do a tour after JAPAN.. in the US. VA GA or anywhere close. I WILL BE THERE. Thank God for Real Men... And The REAL WOMEN by their side.

I agree with you about MJ. Funny how things change; I used to wait for the Thriller video to come on MTV every year around Halloween, and now you can watch it on YouTube whenever you want. Sometimes I think things are too accessible now. Just like that Cribs question someone had. Don't do that shit, Cube. Not that I wouldn't watch, coz I would, but that's the human curiosity. In reality I wanna hear your new album, not check out your bedroom. I'm looking forward to that album a lot. You need a special edition. I looked everywhere for a special edition Raw Footage and the best I got was Best Buy's one with the three bonus tracks (Don't Make Me Hurt Ya Feelings I overplayed in Iraq. Great fuckin track). I've been told I'm the only person to buy cds anymore, but I like the pictures. Maybe you can take your shades off this time. Or show some of your favorite places in Cali. I'd still buy it if it came in a blank cardboard box, but I'm just sayin I like the pictures.

Sup Cube,
I’ve been a fan since they only sold the first NWA tape at the Swap Meets and no where else… LOL For real… So, I grew up at at time when rap was diverse minus the “broadcast escapizm.” It seems that when Ruthless died with Eazy, the avenue for new West Coast rap artists to “break” into the mainstream, died with it. So, have you thought about putting new talent on one of your records where all of you vibe off each other and go hard on the mic? I don't know if you've met a couple of the I.E. (Inland Empire) dudes but I’m thinking Young Maylay, Sly Boogy, Bad Lucc, and Dr. Stank, with Crazy Toones and Dr. Stank on the productions… (W.C. did a record with Stank) It's just a thought…
Thanks for listening,
MAV, not the rapper...

Thank you brother for being like the only artist who keeps it constantly consistent and truly authentic. This is what Rap Music needs right now. I think I speak on behalf of alot of fans here.
I see what you said about the state of Hip Hop, that's why the game fuckin' needs artists who can still keep contention within our music. There's no fearful rappers expressing any message with word. And it's not like our culture has ran out of stuff to say.
The West needs to get back out on top with someone such as yourself. The West is the most influential coast out there. It was the N.W.A. record that single-handedly changed Rap. I'm a huge of fan of every album. Looking forward to your next record homie. All I ask, as a fan, is to make us inner city folks, a banger, an anthem, enough to scare all of Middle America again with our Truth. We need that 2010 N.W.A., 'fuck you, you and you'. Just one joint. That's all the hood needs. One track. Just one song off your new album will be gold for us man. We need to save our music. You know what I'm saying?
Fuck these homosexuals whoring out our culture.
And I'm not trying to hate on any other rapper getting money, but really now, the gay stuff in our industry is too much for a dude to handle.
Thanks homie, one love!
Keep it 100!
