Oscars & Grammys

What's up Fam, this is the voice of Cube...

I got some good news today. Al Davis, owner of the Oakland Raiders agreed to do an interview for my "Straight Outta L.A." documentary. The one I'm doing for ESPN 30 for 30 series. We've been asking Al for about 6 months and he finally said, "yeah." I'm suppose to fly to Oakland after the Super Bowl and sit down with him. Everybody hates on Al Davis cause he's a hands on owner. But I like that. "My way or the fuckin' highway" you gotta respect it.

I just signed on to do the Paid Dues Festival in San Bernardino on April 3rd. It's a Saturday. It cool cause this is the first time I'm on the same bill with my cousin Del the Funky Homosapien. I remember producing his first record with D.J. Pooh called "I Wish My Brother George Was Here." I got a lot of respect for Del too. He always hated commercialized hip hop. From day one.

Did ya'll watch the Grammys? Me neither. I remember people use to be excited about the Grammys. Now you know who's gonna win before their nominated. Beyonce'? 6 Grammys? Off this record? Seriously...

The Oscars never fail to celebrate Black people's sadness, misery and ugliness. Just look at the kind of roles that get nominated... Crooked cops, Green Mile type niggas and playing Ike Turner. Thanks Hollywood for always recognizing our downfalls. Not watching that shit either.

I did check out Capitalism: A Love Story by Micheal Moore. Good information. It shows who's really pulling the strings. Check out: Sicko by Micheal Moore. Dope.

I've been trying to get MC Ren back on the mic since Up N Smoke Tour. He just dropped a record so I hope he'll spit on my shit. Stay tune for details.

The Nas, Scarface project was being spearheaded by my homie Tony Draper. These project are hard to put together because of the different record companies. We all got too busy with our own projects and personal lives to make a dope record right now.

When I do tour. I will make it to Tilburg & Vienna

Going to the studio tomorrow. Trying to get Mike Epps to come by. If he does I'll film it and post it.

Keep it gangsta,
Ice Cube

i'm down with you for the grammy part... beyonce with 6 grammies was just too much to stand for... I only liked one of the winners: Jamie foxx and T-Pain... the other... just crap
as for the oscars part.. I haven't seen the nominations, but sure hope that Invictus is up there... so, if it is, that should balance things if it wins a few awards.
as you say... keep it gangsta. word up.

Grammys are meaningless. Turned into a microcasim of society. Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas. All bubble-gum. When did we stop pushing the envelope and being real?

Can't wait for your tour. This time I won't be stuck in the desert (hopefully!) so I'm gonna be there! I'll be tryin to bring my big brother with me coz he loves your music almost as much as I do. We started this thing that any situation you can give "Cube Advice", meaning we just quote a lyric of yours to fit any situation. It's surprisingly inspirational. Was a joke at first but now I find myself giving advice to junior Soldiers and quoting you without realizing it. "Regret it? Nope. Said it? Yep. Listen to my big black boots as I step!"

Cube...you have been one of the greatest inspirations to me. What you have said on your records has really touched me.
The way you have described the condition that blacks had to go through reminds me of what we as arabs are going through in the middle east.
I can really relate to what you rap about.
I also rap and record songs, but on an amateur level....I think I have memorized the vast majority of your songs over the last 2 decades, there is no word of a lie in that.
I seen you when you came to Edmonton twice and I loved it....I hope you come again to Edmonton and I'm going to promote the hell out of it.
I hope in your next album that you can touch on the middle east conflict and the suffering thats being inflicted on the palestinians, I would love to see that.
Take care and one of my dreams is to have a chance to meet you one day, hopefully when you come to Edmonton!
